People
often say that the small town of Garut is lucky to have Cipanas. This
district capital 7 km north of Garut, or 60 km from Bandung, is one
of the main attractions for those who visit Garut Regency, whether
for meetings, business, or holidays.
What makes Cipanas so special is the endlessly abundant flow of hot natural mineral water, from deep inside Gunung Guntur, the bald mountain that is the local landmark.
Unlike the hot-springs water at other locations, which is so often
cloudy, the mineral water at Cipanas is clear, and just the right temperature,
so people can swim or soak at any hour, even at midnight or dawn. It's
therefore no surprise that the area is full of hotels and resorts,
all offering hot water swimming pools, and even natural hot water tubs
in each room.
One of the best boutique resorts in Cipanas is Kampung Sumber Alam,
especially for Meeting, Incentive, Convention and Event (MICE) activities.
This resort has ideal MICE facilities to meet the needs of corporate
clients and other large groups that wish to hold their meetings at
Cipanas.
Kampung Sumber Alam has three meeting facilities – Gambir Wangi, Inten Dewata, and Purba Dewata – with capacities to meet every need, from 15 persons to 400. For wedding receptions, the Purba Dewata room is Garut's largest, holding up to 1,000 guests. The resort has 68 rooms – standard hotel rooms, bungalows, and a suite with a private whirlpool, with soaking tubs a standard feature in every room.
Other
support facilities include wi-fi in the lobby, and for festive meals,
the Ligarwangi and Tanjung Balebat restaurants. The resort, whose concept
is "old-timey Kampung Cipanas with an environmental
outlook", also has an Olympic class swimming pool – with
natural warm water – and a wide range of modern games and rides,
such as flying fox, high rope, water polo, and a camping ground, not
to mention rural entertainments including angling in a fishpond, catching
eels, and harvesting fish from a pond.
