The leaders of 192 nations met in Denmark’s capital city between 7-18 December 2009 for the UN Copenhagen Climate Summit to discuss the issue of climate change around the world with a view to reach agreement on how to tackle a range of problems related to the environment and global warming.
As the Earth warms up, the climate changes have set disastrous impacts for globe, including floods, desertification, animal extinctions and rising sea levels.
In relation to the implementation of the Climate Summit 2009, Garuda Indonesia was given the opportunity to fly the President, Mr. Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his entire delegation to the Climate Summit.
The Climate Summit resulted in the “Copenhagen Accord” with the important target of holding the increase in global temperature below 2°C. Furthermore, US$30 billion will be channelled from the leading industrialized nations to developing countries for climate-related projects.
